Is it possible to buy fish fillets that are (almost) completely deboned?

If I buy a frozen (battered or breaded) fish meal, or if I buy fish and chips or eat fish in a restaurant, the fish will not have any bones in it.
However, when I have bought fish fillets (usally from Morrison's), the package says that they try to remove all the bones, some small bones may remain.
When I actually try to eat the fish, there is a small bone in practically every bite. I end up spitting out half the fish. I don't have time to pick the bones out myself before I cook the fish.
Although this experience has mostly been with Morrison's, I've noticed that other supermarkets have the same disclaimer on their fish fillets. I understand that they can't be 100% certain that every tiny little bone will be removed, so they need that disclaimer for legal protection, but are there any supermarkets that sell fish fillets where almost all of the bones are removed? I don't mind picking out one or two small bones; but I don't want small bones in my teeth with every other bite.
If they can debone fish for frozen meals and in restaurants, why can't they properly debone plain fish fillets?

I buy frozen fish fillets all the time (tesco/sainsbury's) and in the last year I have come accross maybe 1 bone! That might have been the year before though....!
Maybe you should try a different store? We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
I always buy salmon and trout fillets and I find bones rarely in either. I buy them fresh either from the shelf or fish counter and I buy from mostly sainsburys or sometimes tesco and morrisons if they have good offers on.
At christmas I bought a massive fillet of salmon from sainsburys that fed 6 people, the fishmonger told me there'd be bones in it and I pulled out 3.
Are you buying fish steaks or fillets? I always avoid fish steaks and they do seem to have a lot of bones.0 -
Do you have a local fishmonger - mine always checks for bones for me.0

I find fish from morrisons always has small amounts of bones in but from tesco is almost completely deboned. May just be our local shops but I would try tesco or another supermarket.0

I had a piece of cod off the fish counter at Morrisons the other day - no bones at all0

It also depends on the type of fish and the cut some still have the large pin bones but you shouldnt get too many small bones speak to the fishmonger about which will best suit you0

Aldi sell frozen Basa fillets -this is a white fish-possibly Vietnamese River Cobbler? anyway its in the frozen bit-£1.99 for 500g. I think it tastes very good (although it is very delicate when cooked and can fall apart if not treated gently), is very cheap, and I have NEVER found any bones in the fillets.0
