I have just had a letter from a collection agency saying I owe Natwest £1000.00 and need to pay
This must have been at least 5 years ago so Im shocked to get the letter dont even remember this debt!
I have to pay £80 towards rent and with all my bills Im living on nothing
So what do I do what do I say
Im a bit scared so any help would be much appreciated!

At least 5 years ago?
Was it 6 or over? Are you in England/Wales or Scotland?
Presumably you did have dealings with Natwest? Do they say what the debt is for?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Im in England, I do believe it may have been 6.
I did have an account with Natwest but being in debt I dont recall, mind you I was silly when I was a teenager so its quite possible.
They didn't say what the debt was just that I owe them £1000.00
I also have a letter saying I owe them £672 and have passed this onto agency who now want £1000Jan - £66 plus a couple of small comp wins

Saying the debt is yours, would it have been over six years since you either made a payment toward the debt or acknowledged it in writing?
If so, then the debt would be statute barred and you should read the info in this link:

I sent them an email asking how I owe Natwest and for more details. Re cieved a letter to say I owe Natwest and to call to pay.
They reduced the amount from £1000.00 to £679.00
So shall I just push on with asking for dates etc of when I was meant to have this debt?Jan - £66 plus a couple of small comp wins
