Can companies charge late payments on interest?

Hi There,
Not sure where to post this question. Does anyone know if companies, Hazelvine Limited, can charge late payments on interest charges? I had interest of 13.15 and they have charged £18.60 late payment. Apparently, the next charge on the 14 Feb will be £40.00 and will just keep going up. Can companies do this? What help/advice can I get?
