This is starting to become a worrying theme on the boards

People who want to leave the country after building up huge amount of debt and looking for ways to "escape" without paying

Everyone should realise that we people left behind are the ones who are going to make the shortfall at some point

Sorry to sound mean here, but unfortunately i think it needs to be said.

I wish you well in your move, but hope in the next 3 years you work at repaying what this country has given you, so you leave with a bit more positive karma

Just wanted to express my support for you, bajanwoman. I would have sunk under all these problems and debts years ago, much less bringing up three children. Good luck on the journey out of debt.

  • Hi there,

My job needs special security clearance too and I know that people with criminal records and with debt get through the checks (well I got through and look at my debt!). What you need to do is be 100% honest with them- it's when you hide things that people get refused. When you fill in the forms give all details of your offence. You may be asked to fill in a separate form on your financial situation- I wasn't asked to so I can't tell you what's on here but I do know that several people where I work are in similar amounts of debt to me.

  • Mrs sparkle - do you work within the criminal justice or law setting as this does effect things such as the ones being discussed here??

NOt all jobs will security clearings will hinder you getting a job as people do but it all depends on the work environment you will be going into.
  • There are various levels of security checks made on various jobs and unfortunatley the CJS is one of the highest checks that are made. HTH.

No but a very high level of clearance. Depends on what the OP's record is but I agree that it may not be straightforward- OP needs to be honest with the CPS and I believe they'll be given a better idea. Sorry- didn't mean to imply that it was plain sailing...

  • Mrs S I agree that OP needs to be honest from the start and not hide anything. They will take each case seperate and decide from there.

I read from your other poat about your baby due in Feb - congrats - we already have 21 month twin girls!!!

Oh wow, congratulations! Blimey, that must have been hard work. This is my first and I haven't a clue what to expect. Sometimes it hits me that I'll be a mum soon and that is seriously scary- but nice too if you know what I mean.
