Maggie sottero - "christina"

So far I have tried on 6 dresses. The best one without a doubt was a Maggie Sottero dress by the name "christina".

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=christina&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=100&style=A3407

The dress shop is asking £899 for it, is this a good price? Do you clever people know anywhere I might be able to shave some pounds from it? It's about 3 times the price I was hoping to pay for a dress, but it looked AMAZING.

I've seen tiffany bridal and sites like that. But they are copies, and I can't afford to risk money on a copy that might have the boning in all the wrong places and won't fit the same.

I've got ebay set to email me if anyone lists a Maggie Sottero "christina" or "A3407" for sale. But I can't find one that's ever been on ebay...

I'm due back at that shop on saturday to try more dresses and hopefully find one cheaper that I love as much or more... but if not, can anyone find it cheaper? I'm not allowed to ask if anyone on here has one they're prepared to sell am I?

  • That is an amazing dress, and I say that as someone who is not generally a 'Maggie' girl!!

Unless you can get the shop to give you a discount, perhaps if they have a sample in your size, or you can find another shop which stocks the same dress (I don't know how much variation there is between different shops for the same dress) you will need to trust to luck on ebay, preloved, etc. You could also try http://www.sellmyweddingdress.co.uk/ If it's a new design you will struggle to find it secondhand, obviously!

    Good luck with your search.

I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero gown for my big day, I considered ordering from america, if you do a search for the stores that stock it, you could get it almost half price. If you know someone who could alter it for you here, it may be a cheaper way of getting your dream gown.

    Hi,

I think that is a lovely dress - I wish I had seen it when I was looking!!

Maggie Sottero's usually are quite expensive. Mine is sottero and midgley and was over £1000 in the shop, but lucky me, I managed to get it second hand on preloved...

Usually with sottero the shops that sell it are contracted not to sell overseas, so you prob won't have much luck with US sites, but might be worth trying.

I don't think it is a good idea to use the knock off sites, as one of the reasons the sottero ones are so nice is the quality of the materials and also the bodices...

    Any way good luck!!

  • I have just bought this dress for my wedding in May, ordered it last summer and picked it up this week, I absolutely love it!
I managed to get it for £750 in the sale but I have seen it on a few preloved websites when I've googled the name so that might be your best bet! I wouldnt gamble with a dress "in the style of" as it might not be anything like it when you get it. Good luck!!!

Once you put in a search have a look above the listings that come up, it's in small blue writing on the top leftish side "Save search" then you can tell it to email you new listings that match.

I'm going back to the shop where this dress is tomorrow to see what else they have, I might have to ask them not to let me try it on again. I can't justify £899 on a dress!

  • I got my Maggie in a sample sale. I believe the ticket price was somewhere near yours (can't remember the exact amount - maybe £1050?), but I got it for £600.

I know it's a long shot, but would you be the same size as the dress in the shop?
  • I went back to the shop today and got a dress. Not "Christina" as it's a new sample and they won't part with it lol. But I managed to get another Maggie Sottero in their sale for £550 including all my alterations. It's got all the same kind of boning and structure so it still looks good in all the right places. ;)

I haven't managed to track down the name yet but apparently it was also released under the name "Martina" with some added crystals?

Face removed because of silly expression  (background removed to protect the innocent lol)
