  • Hi there,

I'm an ex-HOF staff, used to work in the now closed Dickins & Jones in Regents St.

As a Money Saver and do think most of us here are money savers, I'd just say guys that these mega sales days in especially poshish stores/ brands like House of Fraser is just a con.

I was with HOF for 2 yrs and inspite of having a 25% staff discount I never ever used it, coz it just wasn't worth it. Also, HoF prices are just too inflated for the stuff regular people like, ok you might get a belt or a cap for a decent-ish price, but thats abt it. You get the same stuff elsewhere in better quality and less expensive. They simply charge u for their fancy brand name and the lighting & air-con costs.

Just felt compelled to tell u guys my perspective as an ex-staff. Anyhow, shall leave it to decide for urselves.

    Regards

  • do they reduce the price of their MAC makeup products?

As I said previously, 10% off beauty.

You make a good point, however, particularly in health and beauty, the megadays are good as you get 10% off RRP on brands like Benefit, Chanel, Clinique. Also the stores like Oasis, Mango, Warehouse within HoF take part in the 25% off as well.

Was in HF Bristol yesterday & have to say that although the sale finished a few weeks ago, all the sale stock is still out...

However when I sale shopped two weeks ago most of the heavily reduced sale stock (50%, 70% etc) was 50% off again, so I got some MEGA bargains...certainly didn't pay for air con or lighting, more like raw materials only e.g I paid £3.xx for clothes items & £17.xx for Le Creuset Pots & Pans (not the cheaper dishes)

Walking around yesterday there was a lot of sale items that were now missing the extra 50% off so not worth picking up. We asked about the next proper sale & were told this would be boxing day. I don't suppose the extra 50% off wwill materialise until near the end of the xmas sale, though it would be good to have this confirmed by those in the know as this is when the real bargains can be had
