Hi MSE People
I thought I would start a post with all the most obscure ways people have earnt their cash. Nothing rude on here please.
I will update the list everyday with peoples money making skills.
Hopefully this will help people aswell as make a few people laugh.
Its all about the fun
Ill start off
Denzel09uk - My Fiance`s best friend at the time had to get rid of her motor, So I said why dont you sell it. She then said Ok how much do you want for it. I offered £150 bearing in mind It had No MOT and Tax and it was a "Y" reg Seicento. Got it through the MOT and nothing needed doing and sold it for £925. Not obscure but thats my story. I did tell the best friend that I was ripping her arms and legs off, but she seemed happy with that. :rotfl:
David69 - I bought a car about 10 years ago for £6500 sold it 3 months later for £8000 and bought it back again 2 or 3 years later for £2000 and sold it again about 3 months later for £3100 total profit £2600.
I sold it to my sisters high flying boyfriend and they went to trade it in so i bid them over what the dealer was offering them and bought it back, realised how thirsty it was again and sold it .
PadddleJohn - get round to the boot sales when they are closing and collect any old rags/clothes, a bin bag full is worth about £4 so 20 bags is a days pay. simples
Gnashers - I trawl round local council dumps (not so easy now-a-days due to Health & Safety Regs), fly tips, skips, building renovations and so on for old glazed doors and windows. I then make up coldframes and green houses which I then sell. The frames and greenhouses are made so they can be easily dismantled and once delivered/picked up, can beas easily be built up again with little skill.
May not be the best looking of garden buildings but sure are cheap as chips.
Nice hobby that keeps me active and provides a small income to top up my occupational pension.
Property.advert - I walked out of a dusty warehouse I was clearing donkeys years ago only to see a tramp pick up what looked like a pay packet. I saw a purple £20 note as he tore it open and swiftly gave him £5 for the packet. As he toddled off to the off license I opened it to find not a pay packet but just some cash, about £140 in all. I think I toiled all week for less than £100 in those days so this was a great find.
Pasturesnew - I turned up, turned on the two PCs and grabbed a floppy. Copied the files onto the floppy and sat at the 2nd PC.... well, I couldn't make it look this easy could I.... so I spent the next half an hour making directory listings scroll on the 2nd PC .... it looked really impressive to them. I just did dir /p and dir /w and a few other variations ... and changed directories .... and did nothing really for half an hour, before announcing it was done, pocketing the £25 and leaving.
Jamespir - i look for cheap cds games dvds from charity shops /markets boot sales then sell them either on ebay . cash generato or music magpie
SandP - Haven't done it for a while (i.e. probably 10 years) but I used to check out what UK shows were getting a cult following in the US and then buy associated books/games from charity shops and sell them on ebay.
Examples
Young Ones books 25p sold for £6-£7
Eastenders Game £1.50 sold for £35
- not ££££s but good percentage return.
You have to hit these before anyone else realises and floods the market however, very small window of opportunity maybe weeks at the most.

Wait until you have a decent amount say 20-30+ bags (full) and take then to the rag dealers. Have a look in your thomson local or yellow pages for your nearest.
The going rate at the moment is about £400 per ton which works out at 40p/kilo.;)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

To make "new ones" surely cannot be possible from 2nd hand materials.
