E: 31/03? Where are you? Win an Algarve holiday (HELP NEEDED)

To enter this competition, you'll need to turn to page 124 of the March 2011 issue of Conde Nast Traveller magazine, and identify the region in which the temple in the picture is located.
Correct answers will be entered into a random prize draw to win a five-night holiday for two at Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel, arranged by W&O Travel. The prize is worth £2,550 and includes accommodation in a two-bedroom Ocean View House, return flights from Gatwick to Faro with British Airways, and transfers. The holiday is subject to availability and must be taken before 20 December 2011 (excluding dates in July and August).
It can be tricky to see through the mist in this remote, mountainous region, which lies in the far north-west of the country. The temple that appears like a beacon on the hillside was built for a 19th-century king and is home to a reclining Buddha. Beneath the mist, sunflowers blanket the hills in November, and in the valley below are fast-flowing rivers (exciting waters for the confident rafter) and thick forests. Amid the trees you might spot gibbons and elephants; the area has a long history of elephant training, and the animals now accompany tourists on treks. The region is populated by various hill-tribe communities, one of which is known for its long-necked women, another for traditional ceremonies such as the ordination of boys into the monkhood, a three-day event during which the boys are carried round on the shoulders of an older relative. Where are you?
