Just had Santander on the phone...

They've received my letter showing our income and expenditure and are now asking to see proof-of-income, last years accounts and a bank statement or two.
We're self employed so money tends to fluctuate and at the moment for 2011 we only have about 2/3 of the business we had last year. So the statements and accounts wont really be that relevant.
I know the general advice will probably be "don't send anything" however 1. they're the first of the cc companies to actually call me with an english-speaking person (instead of a machine or foreign call centre) and 2. I don't want to cheese them off any more than necessary.
What's the proper advice on this kind of situation?
I have no problem sending them a list of the work we have booked in for this year and next, it's just the bank statements and accounts I'm more concerned about.

Hi Snapper
I am always wary of sending paperwork in the post, in case it never returns... couldn't you book an appointment into one of their branches and go there with all your documents? They can then photocopy and stamp it as authentic... I did this with the Co-Op a while ago and my God by the way the guy has handling my paperwork, I decided there and then that I wouldn't be doing business with them, but at least they didn't have my infromation flying around and I coudl take it home with me afterwards...0 -

I would for now keep them sweet get photo copies and send them registered ... as a bank they will be aware that your not making as much as last year as the banks caused that problemIn London, you're never more than 20 feet away from someone telling you you're never more than 20 feet from a rat .0 -
Hmm... I really don't want to send them accounts.
Out of interest, in today's post I've had an a letter from both Tesco CC and Halifax CC ACCEPTING my DMP offer. Halifax have not dropped the interest to 0%, but 6.9% which is still massively better than the 29% we did have! After all the things I've heard about Halifax I'm amazed at this! It does mean there's less reason for Santander to need to see statements and accounts.0
