We are paying of no arrears yet i am spending £30-£40 per week on GAS and £15 per week on Electric??
Gas goes up to £45 in winter.
We pay £75/month for both. We are both out at work all day so nothing's used during the day. We switch things off instead of on standby, turn radiators down in rooms we don't use very often, and we check comparison sites regularly to make sure we're on the cheapest tariff for our area - online and duel fuel are often cheapest, and there's usually a discount for paying by DD. Also try switching your thermostat on your central heating down a degree or two.
Is this because we are on pay as you go meters? We chose this option as we saw it as 1 less monthly bill we have to save for and make sure we pay on time to avoid debt! If it can be less then halfed i would be amazed and deffiantly switch over to monthly payments.
It could be - this rate is not higher that the company's standard rate of charging. The problem with pre-payment meters is that you can't shop around and get online deals (which are often cheapest), we've just switched company (a couple of months back) and now pay £20 per month less than before.0
