Veroucas (SP)

I am not looking for medical advice for Veroucas but my little girl has had a big one on the sole of her foot for a while and I have tried prescription lotion stuff and Bazouka and it is still there - in fact all that has happened is that the skin around the verouca has all come off and the little core thing is still there. I was thinking of taking her to the chiropodist but will I have to pay if I do?

Verrucas The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists can help you find a state-registered chiropodist. Their website has information about verrucas and other foot ...
Not surprisingly the Society of Chiropodists thinks chiropodists are best at treating verrucas but you will have to pay so see if you GP will freeze it off instead.
BBC - Health - Conditions - Verrucas has some interesting medially approved DIY verruca treatments. Tea tree oil is on offer at H&B at the moment and apply the inside of a banana skin to the verruca. Rub the inner skin against the verruca for a few minutes two or three times a day or cut out a piece of banana skin large enough to cover the verruca, tape it over the verruca to hold it in place, and leave it overnight. sounds a MSE way to go.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I would ask at your doctors surgery if they have a Chiropodist. Ours does and my mother an OAP does not have to pay so I would think it the same with children. I had a massive Verruca for years and could be very painful at times. The GP said its a virus it will go away in its own time. It was not until many years later I got a few warts on my hands that the GP said that he would freeze them and as they are of the same 'family' as the verruca it might just be what my system needed to clear the verruca and hey presto within a few weeks warts and verruca were gone! Prior to freezing the warts he also said constant trauma often worked too...but not on a child perhaps!:j0

Hi,
I had a verruca on my foot for about 5-6 years - and had all sorts of treatments, freezing (both home and doctor), over the counter treatments, doctor prescribed ones and even had it cut out (not nice) nothing worked at all. (In fact having them cut out can make it worse - and hurts like hell - so avoid).
I even asked to see a specialist (and evidently there aren't any - in kent at least).
So i gave up and about 2 years later it just went - all on it's own - which is what happens quite a lot (evidently).
What i suppose i'm saying - is that given that they (doctors) - don't seem very good a getting rid of them - don't spend to much money on it and ultimately you may have to except that science can't help and it will just go -there doesn't seem to be any certain cure.
I even jokingly named mine - i miss vernon sometimes !!!0 -
Check with your gp surgery to see if they have a "wart" clinic. Ours do and after 2 visits with dd hers went away with no problem.
Was reading somewhere that now they dont tend to do anything with them and as said above they do eventually go away. Only thing is i remember when i was a child that they can sometimes be VERY VERY painful. Still remember the feet checks when doing swimming lessons years ago with primary school....oh they were the days!!! They days when we had nit nurses too....bring them back i say.

Use apple cider vinegar - it works and you get a huge bottle for around £1.20.. and that's from the local expensive shop.
My daughter had a verruca, which spread to her hands. And over the last 2 years we've tried:
Freezing at the docs - no good.
Gel from the docs - likewise.
Liquid from the docs - nothing.
2 lots of £11'ish wartfreeze stuff from Boots - a small success.
Wrapping it with ducktape - daughter didn't like it.
At last, read the Apple cider vinegar thing on an internet site and tried it.
And surprisingly it works.....
Method.
Use vaseline to run around the site of the wart (not the warty bit.. it's to stop the vinegar spreading to other bits of finger)- a cotton bud does it.
Fill the Apple cider vinegar bottle top about half full. (It's not much)
Use cotton bud to wet wart with it.
To make sure - take tiny pieces of cotton wool - soak them, put them on warts, then put elastoplast on them to keep them in place.
We changed them every day, simply because elastoplasts get a bit wet.
Day 1 - warts 'puff up'.
Day 2 - You should start to see the black spores.
Day 3/4/5 Black spores become apparent.
Day 5/6/7 Some of the warts should start to drop off.
Warts should go within 8 days.
If not, keep going....
Can't think why the cash-strapped NHS doesn't use it instead of all their useless potions. You'll have almost the whole bottle of apple cider vinegar left but you can use it to clean you kitchen worktops. Stinks a bit but for any other tips - try the money saving section for household tips.
Good luck for a wart/verrucca free existence.0 -
Hi my daughter had a verrucca on her foot which was removed ( free on nhs due to her being under 16 ) at the chiropodists last week. They said her foot has to be kept covered at her swimming lessons until her next appointment in about 2 weeks. The thing is it is her swimming lessons tonight, and I am not sure where to buy them from. The plan was to go into town and get some before lesson, but have looked on boots website and superdrug website, and they don't seem to stock them.
Any ideas please as I don't want her to miss her lesson.
Thank you0 -
My son had one a few years ago and was going to have it frozen off at the Doctors but I decided to wait and used Lemon oil on it and it went away in a couple of weeks. I diluted a couple of drops in warm water and dabbed it on each day.0

Have you tried using Wartner? It's available at all good chemists and costs around £10 to £12.
It freezes the verucca. You do one application which takes 10 to 20 secs if I remember correctly. Then thats it. Verrucca should 'die' and just grow out with the dead skin.
I've used it on my kids. Once or twice had to do 2 applications if it was a stubborn one. I'd always use that now. Expensive but much easier and alot less hassle.0 -
The best money saving advice is do nothing.
They always disappear if given enough time. The reason why there are so many treatments for it is because none of them work!0 -
I've got one I've had for eight years. I've tried everything to no avail.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
