Cant shift my credit card

I took out a credit card a few years ago, and since then my job has changed, I now work part time as I am training to teach and not earing nearly as much. I have £950 left on it to clear but it just seems to be haunting me. My credit rating is not great, they say it is "fair" so I am struggling to find another card to transfer it to with a 0% period so that I can pay it off. Can anyone help me wih some advise on how I can get rid of this dept...hopefully within the next 12 months?
Many Thanks

what credit agency did you use?
my equifax credit score is excellent
Experian is very poor....
There is a thread on these boards somewhere showing which lenders use which agency. Might be worth taking a look.0 -
Have you tried to get a 0% card? If not, one application won't hurt. You can have about 3 credit checks in a 6 month period before your credit score is affected.
Do you have any old accounts that you mat be able to get a transfer deal on as an existing customer?
Also look at your utility bills and see if you can get a better deal elsewhere - you either need to pay more towards the debt or reduce the interest to make a dent in it.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I tried to apply for one recommended by moneysupermarket but I was rejected. I wondered whether I could aproach my bank to ask is I could top up a loan I have with them that I will have finished paying by aug?0

Contact the one you applied to and find out why you were rejected. If there is something on your credit file, it would be best to know about it now.
Check you are on the electoral roll and there are no discrepencies with previous addresses on your file. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

If you can't get another CC, then try and make overpayments every month instead of only paying the minimum, regardless of how small the overpayment is, it will be helping you to get rid of the debt quicker.
If you post a SOA showing all your income and outgoings then people will be able to tell you where you might be able to make savings and make additional payments to your card. Do you have other debts? Have you missed or made late payments?

I'm sure the electoral roll information is on your credit file - possibly in the section about your current address or how long you have lived there? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
