My husband has a paper copy of a default notice issued by Lloyds TSB dated 12/2007 but having looked at his Equifax credit file, the account is showing as "arrangement to pay" and there is not a default on there-is there a time limit on applying defaults?
My worry is that they will apply it after the debt has been entirely repaid (hopefully later this year)-can they do this?
Thanks

A default can be added to the account at any time.
The default date must however be within 6 months of the original default (first missed payment).
Edit: I doubt a default can be added after the debt is paid off though. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
This is a bit similar to this situation https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2818272 (well except this person did get a default added on at a much later date). Might be worth a read. Some of it deals with arrangements to pay then defaults etc.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
