Hello all,
Firstly thanks to everyone who has posted great advice on here, there is a wealth of information.
Unfortunately I couldn't find an answer/piece of advice for my specific situation. Having looked at my credit report I noticed a default from Egg Loans.
I can't recall receiving a default notice and due to the fact I was late on 2 payments at the end of my loan, I got in touch with Egg who said it they did not issue the default, it was Moorcroft Debt Recovery Agents, whom they had sold the debt onto. Having spoken to Experian the default was put on by Egg. Egg deny this and Moorcroft also have said this.
Does anyone have any advice on where I should go with this?
Thank you in advance.

You need to put it in writing and they will then have to respond in writing. Keep a log of the calls.
I think your first action is a letter of complaint to Egg asking them to remove the default. Might be worth sending £10 and asking for a "subject access request" which will give copies of everything they have on you
Keep everything in writing so you have evidence.0 -
Write a letter to the Credit Reference agency requesting details about the default and who you should contact to have it removed. Once the CRA confirm who is responsible, write a letter of complaint to them stating that you were informed by them that they did not issue a default, but now as the attached letter from the CRA confirms, it appears they did. State that you have never received a default notice for this and to please get in touch with the CRA to remove the default (which they have no record of). After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

BCJ and George,
Thank you very much for your responses. It really gets on my nerves, I've read so many posts over the last few days with these companies blindly sending such things to CRAs. They obviously don't take into consideration how it affects people in all sorts of ways.
Although I have to be blamed for not being organised enough to make the last couple of payments on time. Complacency is bad.
Anyway thank you, I'll give you an update0
