Overdraft arrangement - Halifax

Having recently set up my own DMP and Halifax agreeing to freezing all charges on my loan, credit card and overdraft I have just logged into my online account to see they have taken out 'last month arranged overdraft fee' £24 and 'last month unarranged overdraft fee' £35 :o

My DMP agreed with them on my 2k overdraft was £11 (their letter is dated 18/1/2011). In the process of setting up my DMP their monthly charge of £12.50 on the account put me over my arranged overdraft and these charges are now mounting as a consequence of that. I did downgrade the account but I'm still over my agreed overdraft.

Is this just going to keep going up or should I contact them in a bid to get it frozen as it currently stands at -£2092.52?

I would definately contact them and ask them to freeze it. This may just be a crossover from setting up the DMP, but it would be best to get an explanation to them sooner rather than later.

  • All sorted. My DMP was set up to go to all my creditors on 29th of each month, but because 29th was a weekend they didn't send til 31st. My payment to Halifax didn't arrive until 1st Feb, so they have kindly changed my payment due date until 4th of each month - phew! :j

Great news. Glad to see that there are some banks that aren't just squeezing customers for all they can get.

  • They have been really good with me I have to say and even apologised about the fact a default will be put on in 6 months, I was thinking just put it on now and be done with it :D
