Mortgage increasing!

Hi,

I have been overpaying my 140k mortgage everymonth for some time now (its now at c.56k) and have always kept the monthly payments the same and reduced the term.

So im still paying the orginal £720p.m repayment amount + an additional amount extra each month (depending on how much spare cash i have).

I havent paid any additional this month (over and above the £720) and noticed that yesterday the mortgage amount was 56,801 - I had a look today, after the £720 had been paid as it always is on the 1st of the month - and it was now £56,948. I expected it to be lower (not 720 lower, obv. because of the interest, but certainly not higher!).

Before I call them, does that ring any bells with anyone?

Edit: Its a Halifax SVR Repayment

The interest for last month appears to have been charged, but todays payment hasn't yet been credit to the account.

Be patient. There is often a delay in processing.

Check it in a few days time and it will probably have gone down again - I always found with Halifax that the balance increased on the 1st when interest was added, and then went down again a couple of days later./ It'll probably be at £56,228 when you check.

Maybe it is something to do with the Lloyds change over of computer systems. A dual pentode may be requiring some encouragement to glow.

I heard Lloyds TSB and C and G were moving to the Halifax system so why this should blip a Halifax mortgage is beyond me. Maybe a couple of the hamsters in their computer need feeding.

I should correct my self having mentioned Lloyds Bank in my previous post as they are not Lloyds bank but Lloyds TSB. The TSB bit will be chopped off/set free at a later date.
J_B. ( I do not know what will happen to the existing gerbil powered systems.)
