Credit Report confused me even more

Hi,

I've posted before in the bankruptcy section, basically i am £15,000 in debt and have been since 2006/7. I lost my job, battled depression and haven't really paid my debt since.

I was going to go bankrupt, but after discovering i was pregnant i decided to get my head out of the sand, pay it back and take control of my life.

After discussing my situation with national debtline, it was decided the best thing i could do while i am pregnant and on maternity leave was offer my credit a token payment of £1 a month, that is all i can afford at the moment.

Yesterday i wrote out letters to all of my creditors to offer them a token payment, but when i checked my credit report with equifax and callcentre some of my debt was listed as settled.

What does this mean? If some debts are listed as settled why am i being chased for them? I know its my fault i am in debt, but i dont understand what is going on now. I want to pay it back and clean up my life but i'm confused to as why it says settled, when i havent paid it.

Anybody got any advice on what to do now? Do i still send off these letters offering a token payment?

I just want this sorted now for the sake of my baby, so i'm not stressing every day.

Any help will be so much appreicated.

    Send off the letters.

Credit files can be confusing sometimes, not always accurate or up to date, so don't worry about that at the mo...

It;s not always easy to know if a DCA is chasing you because (1) they've been employed to do so or (2) they've bought the debt.

Sometimes the original creditor will mark your file settled when they've sold it.
