quick question!

Hi Sorry to bother you all - hopefully someone can help. I'm doing a cooking session this pm to fill freezer and i've just realised i've run out of silver foil.

What i'm cooking needs to be covered for an hour in the oven and i don't have lids for the dishes. To save me having to go to the shops could i cover with baking paper? Would that do the same thing? Sorry if this is a really daft question!!

Thanks

    Yes

One option if the oven is not too hot, is too cover with two layers of baking paper, (fold one over) and then put a plate on top to weight it down. Just do not take the plate off after taking it out of the oven and place it on something cold or it may crack. if you have a pyrex plate, use that.

If it's a big dish, just put a baking tray on top!! HTH

i often use a baking tray , or grease proof paper.

but i found out if the tray is on bottom shelf and the grease proof paper over hangs the tray the gas flames do catch it on fire, lol. that was fun.
