Washing pillows

A friend has passed on this tip to me which is very useful. I have always avoided washing pillows because when I came to dry them in the TD they became mangled and unuseable.
She has suggested tacking around the edge of the pillow as well as a cross tack across the pillow so that the filling is secure. I did this today and although a tad laborious, it did result in lovely clean pillows. HTH anyone else. Previously I just chucked them out every year!
