It's not John Aldridge.
The first match in the FA Cup settled on penalties was the 1972 third place playoff in which Birmingham beat Stoke 4-3 on pens after a 0-0 draw.

Think that it's possibly a trick question? The first ever penalty shootout took place in England in 1970 between Hull City and Manchester United in the Watney Cup, with the first successful penalty courtesy of George Best and the first unsuccessful one from Denis Law (Manchester United went on to win)
the key part of the question is
note they do not say who was the first person in England to miss from a penalty shoot out in the FA cupwho was the first person in England to miss from a penalty shoot out?
So I think the answer is Denis Law
Best of Luck
