EPDL Patday Loan - Threatening to send doorstep collector?
Options
Hi All
I have just started a DMP and had EPDL emailing me to see why I havent paid my contractual payment which was due today. I emailed them back and gave contact info from the DPM and straight away they emailed me with the following:
"As a first loan your account will be sent for immediate doorstep
collection!!"
I have deferred the payments in the past 3 times each time paying quite a hefty 97.00 per month but now am in a bit of a dilema as to what to do?
Any help most appreciated
Thanks
Zelig

Have you actually set up your DMP and made your first payment? has a payment gone to EPDL yet? (If you are using a commercial company for your DMP they usually keep the first 2-3months payments for their own fees - if you are then consider switching to a free DMP provider by a charity who will start paying your creditors from the first month).
You can stop any doorstop visit here with this template http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=23635529&postcount=58 If they still earn up just tell them to leave (they have no rights to be there).
Have you stopped your bank card/switched to a new bank account etc to stop the payday loan co taking the automatic payment?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Chances are it is an empty threat, but Tixy is correct, if anyone does turn up you can tell them to "Do one"...0

Thanks Tixy for your reply - Yes I managed to stop cards and changed bank - I guess they were a little miffed at that and therefore sent me the above letter - I am with a 3rd party DPA (Im lazy I guess and happy to pay for someone to take care of all my debts ...Im on the road in my job most of the week !!) They have indeed kept the first payment but ensure me they are now writing to all my debtors to arrange terms to start paying at the end of the month.
Many thanks also for the link to the templaes !!!

You could consider using CCCS - they run a DMP for you fully (you pay them one monthly payment) but they won't take a fee and you'll clear your debts much quicker.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
