Giraffe Mortgages?? Fixed rate

Options
I'm a first time buyer along with my partner, we are purchasing for £142,500, requiring a mortgage for £120,000.

I have seen a fixed rate of 4.5% until 30/11/09; £349 fee. This to me sounds really good..?? You can leave them after the fixed period for a charge of £195

Has anyone had a mortgage with this commpany before? I also have very slight/little adverse credit history, i.e missed payments. Are they a very stringent company???

Any info would help.

Thanks

Is that not Bristol & West? Are you sure you meet the criteria of that product?

They only advise on their own products and are not whole of market

I would suggest contacting a whole of market adviser, explaining your whole scenario, including the credit problems to see what deals they can come up with for you

  • Yes when i called and spoke to them they said they are a Bristol & West owned company.

I first saw the Giraffe Mortgage offer through MoneyExpert.com under first time buyers..

I have also contacted an independent advisors however they have not come up with such a good rate, one from a company called Dixons in the Midlands were my partner lives suggested Natwest..?

On speaking with Giraffe they say they offer only direct mortgages and thus need to apply direct and not via a mortage advisor, i asked as i have a meeting next Monday with the mortgage advisor.
  • Oh and thank you for your suggestion herbiesjp, any advice welome/
