Unable to be on the Electoral Roll - Notice of Correction

Hello,
I need some advice and guidance on adding a Notice of Correction to my credit file. I am American and I have lived in the UK for 3.5 years. I am married to a UK citizen, and have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. I don’t, at this point, have plans to become a citizen. Nonetheless, I am unable to register on the electoral roll as I am not a citizen and do not come from a commonwealth country, and are therefore ineligible to vote.
I recently checked my credit score with Equifax which showed that it was good in all areas except the electoral roll. I have read on this website that they way to get around this is to write a Notice of Correction to all of the major credit checking agencies and have a note added to my file with proof of my residency. Having read a bit in these forums, others have reported that after adding a Notice of Correction to their file, not only were they unable to get instant credit (as theoretically all creditors have to read your Notice of Correction) but they were actually being turned down all together as the banks don’t bother reading them, and just assume you have added it to justify something negative.
Please can anyone advise me what to do? It is not helping me that I am unable to be on the electoral roll, but I am worried that adding a notice of correction will also not help!
Thanks,
Erin

I would do nothing.
You don't say whether you have applied and been turned down for any credit product but generally Banks will look at you after you have been a customer for 3 years or more subject to normal credit scoring criteria.
I would try the face to face route via your bank first because even if ''computer says no'' you stand a chance of the bank sales person phoning their lending department to try to override the decision.0 -
A Notice of Correction can only be added to correct inaccurate information on your file. In your case, the absence of an address from the electoral register is not an inaccuracy.
I agree that a personal approach to your own bank would be best for you.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
