VAT increases on International tracked postage

With apologies I know someone posted this a few weeks back but I can't find the thread.

However as from 31st January VAT increases apply on tracked International post.

Some details are here:

Can't find a proper link to a table showing the new prices though.

VAT will only be charged on these international services to EC countries. For deliveries further afield VAT is not charged.

VAT will also be applied to some UK Special Delivery services. The standard next day will not change, but it will be charged if you go for the 9am or need higher compensation than the lower level.

Not all tracked services are effected, Airsure is, ISF (which is always tracked in UK, and in some countries fully tracked to destination) is not.

It is just annoying me that I cannto find a breakdown of the changes, the main postage cost page hasn't been amended at all. I don't usetracked services abroad so ti doesn't affect me at all, but it would be nice to be able to post a link for those who do.

It all explains why rather nicely but it doesn't show the actual costs. I have a leaflet in front of me, I can also see on the RM site that Airsure is £4.90 in addition to standard airmail plus an additional £2,50 if insurance is required. Yet that is not the case for some destinations..so what I calculate the price to be is not what I would be charged if i went to the PO with my items.

So, exactly how much is airsure now then and is the insurance part the same or has that changed as well?

See what you mean now, I don't use Airsure so I've not had to look into it. Hopefully someone will come along and have more info.

There are also going to be increases across the board in April, it never ends :(

I think it is because of VAT only being payable within Europe.

Here are Airsure prices now in two sections

Thank you, that is exactly what we needed on this thread. It seemed daft that RM mention the increases yet failed to show them in a clear form.

I'm much happier now that anyone having a question about costs can get the info from your link.

There are leaflets available at all branches showing the price increases too, so might be worth grabbing one next time your in there.

I use a mail centre and they were not even aware of the changes let alone have leaflets. Not a problem for me though as I don't use tracked services overseas and I don't recall ever having used the pre 9am special service.

Hopefully the main RM pages will update online soon as well.
