most def minimum wage, take about 40 years to save the deposit for a house, providing you give up such luxuries as eating or keeping warm

    Mortgage-free Glee! Debt-free and Proud!
Nice bit of PR by Reed.

Highest rise since the survey started 14 months ago. Well probably 13 months ago as it was between Xmas & New Year when they had a load of consultants sitting around doing nothing that someone thought it was a good idea.

The other thing is Reed do not have enough coverage in the UK to produce anything accurate so must rely on their internet website with ads that mostly come from other agencies who use it because it free.

More than likely the other agency recruitment consultants have been told by their bosses to really go for it in 2011 hence a load of adverts for every man & his dog on the site whether they are existing vacancies of filled vacancies or chats with their clients about what the requirements might be they had in December. No doubt Reed reactivated a lot of expired positions on it after asking their clients "might you want one of these next year at some stage".

In short. Its a bullsh!t survey.

Cheers for the post but that is my verdict & anyone who questions it is wrong. :)

Employers often use more than one agency to fill their vacancies - how many jobs will be double or triple counted.

I wonder if Reed themselves are employing consultants - they got rid of plenty over the last 2 years.

They often put up job descriptions for positions that don't exist in the hope they may get some decent candidates applying and registering with them.

    My daughter works for Reed.

Loads of real reasons to show an increase & nearly all of them have got nothing to do with more actual vacancies.

    Its just PR.

    Do you actually know this?

I remember applying for accountancy training jobs on Reed some years ago.

Well all I can say is that my company is hiring more people than at any point in a few years, and we're cautiously confident at the outlook for next year. The contraction at the tail end of the year came as a surprise, didn't seem to be matched by trading conditions.

What's a little depressing (if predictible) is how the bears are eager to dismiss any hint of good news.

Nothing to do with being a bear or not.

I have a problem with bent PR surveys in general.

    Where has anyone said this?

Anyway - these sort of jobs depend to be direct through the companies themselves.
