Late payment of tax help

in Cutting tax
Hi, I have submitted my self assesment tax return online however I will not be able to settle the account in full. I will be paying roughly 70% of it today and the balance in about 2-3 weeks time. My question is do I need to contact HMRC as I read on their website that if you are going to settle within 28 days of due date you dont need to but I dont want them chasing! I am aware I will pay interest on the balance so do I need to find the exact amount or can I just pay a little bit over and then the July payment will be adjusted? Many thanks.

Or would I be better paying the balance today on credit card? I know I would pay 1.25% on that amount but it's not a massive amount, thanks.0

I would just pay the amount in two or three weeks without contacing HMRC. Just make sure to avoid the 5% surcharge by paying before 28th Feb.0
