in Cutting tax
Hi all,
I need help. My husband and I both did Mystery Shopping last year and also worked for CTS (traffic surveys) and the Local Council (doing the election results) as Independent contractors/vendors but taxes were taken out of our payments so I would like to claim the taxes back if possbile.
There is no PAYE number on the checks we received because we were not employees but how do we list it on the Self Assessment in order to get the taxes back?
Thanks,
Kat

Could you not record this under the section "other Uk income not declared on supplementary pages" ?
That section covers any income which was not paye and not self employment. The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Thanks for your response, but will I get the taxes that were deducted back?, where do I list them0

The local council payment is simplified PAYE ....... you were an employee and it is treated as employment income.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/EIM69800.htm
So you just treat whatever statement you had as a P60 and fill in an employment page each (SA102).If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
