How long do Barclays normally take to reply to a letter

Hi everyone
I sent a letter to Barclays on Monday last week requesting a settlement figure for my loan with them. On Friday I received a statement of my ISA and am hoping that this is a coincidence and not a mix up.
I have tried ringing them but cant get through at home as I have a ban on calling premium rate numbers. I have to call from my parents house or work, which feels wrong...hence deciding to post a letter.
How long should I wait before taking some time off work to visit the bank in person requesting this information?
My direct debit of £501 is due on 9th February and I really wanted to pay it off before that date. I could just guess and send a rounded up amount to my loan but I really wanted an accurate figure in writing from them.
BTW - Whilst in debt denial I read loads of these threads and posts, it seems such a wonderful place, with nice supportive people
I hope to be part of this community soon and able to help others too

Hi jfc,
I'm not sure about Barclays, but I once waited 1 month for a reply regarding a full and final settlement. At the very least though, I'd give it 2 weeks. If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Not sure on the legality... but I would think the standard 28 days would be an acceptable amount of time to wait.0

Hello, I have an issue with Barclays and my DMP just now, the Financial Ombudsman has advised to wait 6 weeks for a reply from Barclays.
Also, regarding the premium rate phone number - have you checked https://www.saynoto0870.com for an alternative number? I use it all the time and never call 08 numbers.0
