Ceramic frying pans

I am in need of a new frying pan. I hate Teflon ones. I noticed there is a type of metal frying pans with ceramic coating, and some made wholly of ceramic. Have anyone used them? Are they sticky? Can they crack under strong heat? Tkx

I wouldn't buy anything other than cast-iron. If it's seasoned and looked after properly it'll have a useful life longer than yours.0

I love cast iron cookware, especially Le Creset! Very expensive but would last a lifetime so maybe better value in the long run & you can use them on the hob then in the oven! xx:jFRUGAL WANNABE! SAVING FOR AUSTRALIA 2015!

I covet Le Creuset and have fantasies about finding them in car-boot sales but no luck so far. The two cast-iron frying-pans I do have (one tiny for frying eggs and another larger one) I found all rusty and unloved in a car-boot sale for a quid each. One Brillo pad a good season later and I'm leaving them in my will to my eldest niece.0

Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Nobody ever used one of those?? The metal pan I found costs €20 and is said to be made of 6 mm thick stainless steel. I am not going to pay more for a pan. So nothing fancy please. @Zippychick: A Tefal costs about €17-€25 here, similar for a stainless un-coated one. A cheap generic Teflon pan costs €7-€10.0
