Tax Rebate

Hi could anyone tell me if you automatically get a tax rebate ,I became unemployed in december and wondered if I should apply for one ,the lady in the job centre advised me toapply after 6 weeks ,but I have read on the rebate site that it would be given through the job centre if I was entiteled to one

If there is a chance of you finding a job before now and the end of April then the rebate would come through the payroll of your next employer, are you claiming JSA, this is taxable also. If you have not had a job when the new tax year comes around, its then you apply for one.

It would if you gave them your P45 when you commenced JSA?

I did give them my P45
