coding notice and self assessment?

I am filling out my first ever self assessment. I work full time (tax gets done through PAYE) but then I started a very small business in my spare time late 2009 (made a loss during 09/10 tax year)

I have happily filled out everything apart from something about the amount of underpaid tax from earlier years included in my 09/10 tax code.

I can not find my 2009/2010 PAYE coding notice anywhere.

What do I do - If I state the amount at £0 would it/could it be corrected at a later date?

Can't answer that 100% ....... but as you're a bit pushed for time to get the Return in ..... I would opt for £0. There's a link between your PAYE and SA records. And it's more likely than not that there is no underpayment in your Coding ....... unless your memory tells otherwise!

thanks for your response, I can not even remember getting a coding notice let alone having underpaid tax!

I seriously doubt I threw it away, but I have no idea where it is!

At least I will keep my 10/11 coding notice safe (which incidentally makes no mention of underpaid tax)
