As worthy as Crocker is of our thanks for all the informative postings, I think in this instance it should be ncd who deserves the thanks for the original post about the coupon in the Mail. ;)

I must admit I rarely post info on this thread recently as I only buy the papers with good offers/coupons in - I had to cancel the paper being delivered 'cos of the cost !!
Lots of us wait to hear from Crocker before we hit the newstands, but please, please, please the postings from everyone else is still very welcome and informative - to give more detail on the offers/bar coding/store acceptance etc, plus about the Metro etc, and the regional variations in these coupons.

Please don't 'not-bother' to post because you think Crocker has it covered.....otherwise the poor bloke ( I assume) will never get a lie-in or a day off. Also, he is giving us the benefit of his rapid scan thru LOADs of papers, we cannot expect him to read all the small print and spend his valuable time typing in all the terms and conditions of every paper etc.

Sorry, (I should change my name to Rambler....but I think it's already taken;) )
What I'm trying to say is thanks to everyone who takes the effort to post their contribution. Like all the MSE threads, the success of it is down to team effort.

    Many thanks all :T
  • Well said the Old Bag - I do believe that the original instigator of the Newspaper thread was indeed my friend Rambler, who was nominated for Post of the month but did not win unfortunately.

I too like Crocker's posts but I am glad when "more meat is added to the bones" of his posts.

For instance the book token in the Mail today is barcoded but not at the £3.50, ie 350 is not shown in the digits of the barcode, therefore I would be hugely surprised to hear that it will scan at Tescos at £3.50.

I haven't tried it yet and like the poster above when I tried a recent Book token voucher at Tescos today I was told they cannot accept them. I suspect therefore they are clamping down on them.

  • Don't forget also if you are buying the Mail that there is a voucher for a free childrens game disk. Even if you are not there today I find my store will hand out previous disks on presentation of the voucher.

Also my kiddies love Jacqueline Wilson and there is a competition in the paper today for Jacqueline Wilson fans. Of the thread slightly, my one daughter wrote to Jacqueline Wilson and was delighted to receive a very friendly, handwritten personalised letter which she took to show all her classmates at school.

Please note the coupon gratefully posted in post#2 is different to the coupon on page 73.If it scans please be prepared for a suprise as it is barcoded £4 off.

As previously stated the earlier poster, and indeed all useful posters deserve the effort of the thanks button.

I did note the earlier #2 post before posting and was pleased this saved me entering that item.

It takes me about 45mins simply to do my casual scan mornings and 20 mins to post.I do take note of thanks posted and find them satisfying for my efforts.

I personaly would welcome just logging in mornings to note any details withouth the hr.I spend scanning.

I agree abbreviations are a little work and effort and no doubt less effort than scanning and posting data for yourself.

I have considered all posted comment including PM (private messages) and indeed acted upon them.note moc (money off coupons)are title posted to ease recognition.

The general conscensus is that my posts are welcomed. Please feel more than free to PM if you have any constructive suggestions.
Think not what MSE.com can do for you but what you can do for MSE
