council tax discount for students?

Hi,

I was reading local newspaper this morning and there is an article about student discount for council tax.

My daughter is 6 and she is in year 1 now. Does this mean she will be treated as a student and I can apply for council tax discount?

if she is at university then she is exempt.
however, as she probably doesn't pay any council tax being exempt wouldn't be much benefit.

Just in case - anyone under 18 is disregarded for CT purposes. If you are a single parent then you should be claiming single occupant discount. If there are two adults in the household then full CT is payable regardless of how many students (aged 18 and over) live there too.

Clapton - I'm not sure how many 6 year olds you know who are at Uni, I'm a mature student and the undergraduates all look very young but I think 6 would be pushing it a bit!
