Ok I have sussed it as I was a bit confused also as the OP doesn't really make it clear how to do it.

OK, there is a programme which if you have the Leapster Explorer as we have should already be on your computer. I think we downloaded it from a CD that came with the Leapster. It is called Leapfrog Connect. Make sure your Leapster is connected via the USB cable and that you run Leapfrog Connect. You will also need a Leapfrog account which you should have if you have used the Leapfrog Connect programme before.

When you run Leapfrog Connect as it opens you should be presented with the names of the players listed on the device. Click any of those (I don't think it matters which) and it should progress to another screen. This screen has a bar running down the left hand side in which one of the options is 'App Center.' Click on this which takes you to another screen. On this screen on the right hand side of the screen is an orange box named 'Redeem code.' Click on this (re-enter your password if necessary), enter the code and hey presto, it should download the Alphabet Stew to your device. Worked for me today so doesn't appear to be any time limit on it.
