Tax Code when BR

Hello :)

I have been BR now for 10 weeks and am both self employed and employed. I started a temporary job in December through PAYE and now it has gone permanent even though it is part time.

Last month the payslip said the Tax Code was BR Non Cumulative and this month it says BR Cumulative.

Does anyone know what this means please??

Thank you

BR on a tax code is Basic Rate Tax at 20%.

The PAYE job won't tax code won't change to a nil tax code one as you were not employed by them at the date of your bankruptcy.
  • Thanks for that, I didnt know that.

So what does the non cumulative and cumulative bits mean?

    Cheers

cumulative - any pay and tax during the current tax year is taken into account when calculating the tax due in that pay period

Non Cumualtive - doesn't take into account previous pay and tax.
