Hi,
My girlfriend has just stared recieving letters for old debts from years ago. The first one is for a Blck horse loanwhich she stopped paying in 2005 and the next one is for two catalogue debts from 2003. I need to know, firstly why is she suddenly getting these demands and secondly what, if anything, can be done about them. Is she still legally obliged to pay?
Thanks. Your help is appreciated.

Does she still owe money? If so, she should pay. It may be that the catalogue ones are not enforceable (although the debt hasn't gone away), the Black Horse still is.0

I'll take a stab and guess because of this...The first one is for a Blck horse loan which she stopped paying in 2005 and the next one is for two catalogue debts from 2003.
I would also guess they have either just sold the debt on or she has miraculously reappeared on the radar due to some other application she has made.
Is there any reason you don't feel obliged to repay the debt?
The Catalogues ones may well be unenforceable through the courts but don't expect them to simply roll over and let you enjoy further low apr credit with other companies.0 -
They should both full under the Status Barred, letter's can be found on here, send off the letters saying you dont acknowledge the debts and they will be cleared. Bear in mind it needs to be 6yrs, so be careful with the 2005 one.
This is providing they have not CCJ'd you. I personally would call them from withheld and say you do not accept the debt, tell them you think its SB 9they will confirm it) and then send of the letters registered post, a week or so later you will receive a letter stating balance is zero. Just make sure you dont get the month wrong in 05 as until that date has passed six yrs it wont be SB.
Good luck0
