    Good result,

Out of interest, what was the split between the mechanical bits & the welding and did they replace the sill or patch it?

They patched a sill that is both rotten along its entire lower length and at the front where it joins the wing? Did they also do the MOT test?
I really don't have any faith in the quality of the work of that garage. It might have been cheap, but is it any good.

Ended up costing me £293 for all the work, bit different to £1k for a car. :)

does that include the Mot and other work required?

I would have scrapped it and saved the £300, as you mention the advisories...new exhaust, brake discs and roll bar work next year are going to cost another £2-300 if you get it done at a garage!

Well the patch job must have been up to standard as it was the garage that origionally quoted me £600 that tagged it in the end.

As I couldn't afford to service it and it's not been done for 3 years/20k miles :embarasse I changed the oil and filters myself and wow does she run better now:j! I do need to change the cam belt this year or it could be game over, also I need to change the spark plugs and brakes this year.

    £600 seems steep!

I had the same problem on my S Reg escort. Decided to get rid. £170 on gumtree and i got a T Reg Focus for £600 with 6 months MOT.

In my opinion if there is excessive corrosion its time to get rid.

Thread revival I've been over the under side with underseal and replaced the spark plugs and coolant, I hope to get the cambelt done this week, by which time I would have spent about £500 on her.
