Decent bagged vacuum cleaner?

I bought a reconditioned Hoover Alyx online and was really happy with it for about a week. I emptied it when about half-full, made sure the filter was clean etc. However, after hoovering one bedroom the other day, it cut out. It took 5 hours before I could get it to start up again.
Apparently it seems to be a feature of this particular hoover.
My question is...... do all bagless vacuum cleaners have this? If so, what is a decently priced bagged vacuum cleaner? I am veering towards a Henry as they seem to last for ever and most cleaners use them.
My budget isn't very big. £50-60 max. I really don't want something flimsy. Just a decent cylinder bagged vacuum.

Well, my Hoover has eventually died a death. After contacting the retailer and telling them that it was overheating after one room, they refunded me, but told me to just dispose of it myself. I kept it and just organised myself to hoover in short burst and it has done me fine for about 9 months (not bad for something free!).
Anyhoo, a couple of weeks ago, it literally blew up and so I am on the hunt for another.
My question is.......is it just a feature of bagless vacuums that they overheat? I had never come across this problem in a bagged one. Tesco are doing this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.212-4912.aspx half price, but I don't want to get it if it is going to have the same problem.
My budget is around £70 max, so please don't recommend ones that cost hundreds, I just can't afford it.
Many thanks in advance.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I would suggest paying a little more and get a Henry hoover! I've had mine for a year and haven't had to change the bag since I have had it. It's small and compact, and the suction is excellent. I saved up for a couple of months to purchase mine.0

Thank you. I keep thinking about getting a Henry or Hetty. I think they are on sale somewhere for around £89 at the mo. Off to investigate. Thanks for reminding me. Unfortunately can't wait too long to save up as the house is getting too dirty! Downstairs is ok as it is mostly hard floor, but upstairs!!!!! Yuk! We have a pet bird who just delights in spreading seed everywhere, so you can imagine!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Another vote for a Henry, I've had mine seven years and had no problems at all with it.0
