Many rental agencies will allow you to provide a guarenture (sp?) so that even if you fail the credit checks you will be fine. Could your dad act as guarenture?

I did this when my credit histroy was bad and moved house 3 times with no problems.

You really need to half that monthly rent as it's so much money to be paying when you can't afford it.

You are getting good advice on here, more will come, consider it all, and finally: YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE, yes you might have made mistakes (might still be doing so!), yes it won't be easy sorting it all out, but by facing up to it you are being brave and doing the right thing.

Thank you for all the useful advice. It brings a tear to my eye to know that I am not alone in dealing with this. I also feel panic inside but hope it will subside as we start making the changes!

At court my partner did the outgoing and showed he could not afford to take on the debt but he was told to earn more money.
