Interesting cost of living comparison site

I've just come across this great website where you can compare the cost of living of different countries/cities around the world. It seems fairly accurate to me. Just shows how expensive the UK has become;

    Well if you compare London with Madrid, the cost of living in Spain is a third less but the salary there is half of earnings in London....
  • Not sure about comparing the cost of a bottle of water as buying bottled water is essential in some countries and a luxury (as in non essential) in others as there is a reliable tap supply.

    Chicken Kiev's best served with a generous portion of chips and some nice peas.
  • Anyone looked at Oslo? 40% to 60% more for most things.

    Australia has turned higher (used to be up to 30% lower)

    Beware of cost of living comparison sites. They are too theoretical.

    Once you started living in a place, you discover loads of ways of saving money (like what we do in MSE).
    Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
