Anybody with a prescription over minus or plus 10D are entitled to a complex voucher. It is only worth about thirteen quid but it's better than nothing. Make sure you go for a sturdy frame..perhaps a plastic frame if they suit you as they will hide and hold the lenses better. You can get high index lenses cheap enough if you shop about but as someone mentioned earlier don't be afraid to ask for a discount, especially if you've purchased several times with your optician.
What about contact lenses??0 -

I have never had a pair of glasses made up incorrectly and Ive used two specsavers stores - one in London and one here in NI
Mind I got a pair from that chain that make them up on the premises - and they were a completely wrong prescription0 -

you should be entitled to a complex lens voucher which will give a bit of help towards the cost, another option is to look at something like a Bupa plan which may work out more cost effective.
Just to reinforce this - the distance between the eyes and lenses (Back vertex distance) is critical with your prescription, and can only be achieved with face to face dispensing.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.
