Remortgaging without a kitchen...?

Just a quickie...

The day after I completed on my house, we ripped the old kitchen out. The kitchen is pretty much my last thing on a long list of things to do, as I want to save up and get it right. My current mortgage deal comes to an end in the Spring of 2012. If I want to move it to another mortgage provider, will I have a problem because of the kitchen? Presently, I have a plumbed in sink and a bit of a worktop, with various freestanding appliances...

Thank you :-)

    Then you have a kitchen.

If the new lender wishes to have your property valued as part of the remortgage process. The state of the kitchen will impact on the valuation, obviously.

Are you hoping to raise funds when remortgaging?
  • Thank you Thrugelmir :-)

No, not hoping to raise funds. Just imagining that I'll not want to go onto the SVR.

What made me think of it was that you hear of properties which people can't get a mortgage on because they don't have a kitchen / bathroom.

To be unmortgageable, in essence a property has to be uninhabitable. The property has to totally lack utilities and facilities. Electric, Gas, Running Water, no toilet or sinks.

A difference to a "work in progress" however unsightly it may seem.
  • That's exactly what I wanted to hear - thank you!! :-)

Could you not have left the old kitchen in until you had the money for the new one?
