Yes, in my opinion, everyone should check their own State Pension Forcast on a regular basis (every 2 or 3 years) to make sure that their NI payments have been allocated to their state pension record. Do not rely on HMRC spotting the error
Several years ago, before I retired, I requested an online forcast and found that one year's NI payments had not been allocated, I phoned the DWP helpline and was asked to send them a copy of the relevant P60, shortly after, I received a letter and the missed NI allocation was corrected, but they did not admit any error or give an explanation of why they had missed that particular year, although all previous and subsequent years had been allocated correctly (same job). This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
