Smelly leather watch strap :: blush ::

Hi everyone.
I have a leather watch strap which is a bit pongy. It doesn't smell of sweat though - it just smells really, really leathery! It did smell strong when I bought it but I assumed that would fade when it has in fact become worse. I have other leather straps that are fine, so I don't think it's me! I don't wear the watch any more as I find it embarrassing which is a bit of a waste.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it smelling fresh without damaging the leather. It's not patent shiny leather or anything, but I don't want to darken it or anything like that if I can help it.
Thanks, Joe

Ooh the smell of leather is LOVELY!
Dad was a shoe repairer and sis and I used to roll up and down the garden inside a rolled up cow hide when Dad bought a new one home on a Saturday. And OH! the smell! Nothing like it!

i love the smell of leather too...saahsaver, your childhood sounds fabulous!!#
in answer to the OP, i always say try bicarb, it's such a good odour absorber. Sprinkle it all over the strap then leave overnight....it's worth a try!
