poor credit rating - mortgage options?

Hi, i have no ccjs but recently disputed charges with barclays, recently went to 6 months over until they agreed to pay all charges back and went into credit. husband has a couple of satisfied ccjs. looked up my credit score and it was pretty low, something like 450 out of 1000, said very poor! anyway, i have alot of equity, 160k to put down on property of 240 so only need around 80k mortgage. have been offered a mortgage with abbey and looking at their tracker rate of .39 below base which at moment is 4.61%. i would prefer something more definite such as fixed or capped, but both these rates dont seem as attractive, capped is 5.45 for 5 years and fixed around 5 ish.
questions are, are there any other banks that are likely to accept me? also, dont know which mortgage, as rates likely to rise tommorrow.
thanks for advice in advance!
