Changing banks should not affect your cashflow, even if your payments are 2 days late one week. However, it sounds like this lender is nervous based on your history. But seeing as you must have the somewhere in order for the dd to work, why not advance pay the payment so they have the cash on hand?

paddyrg - Thanks for your reply - I am not sure I understand though what you mean by "advance pay the payment" my new account is a Managed Basic account with Think Money and the card etc hasnt yet come to me although I have account no. and sort code?

It's not a case of bringing the company to its knees though. It's a case of prioritising your commitments to keep a roof over your head.

I've been through times when money was tight. It isn't a walk in the park. I'm actually im temporary work at this point in time, so I'm fairly familiar with job security related issues.

As you stated above though, it isn't just 2 days is it? There is part or all of an additional monthly payment as well as a further late payment that you are planning.

And my helpful advice is to prioritise any loan secured on your property and pay it in full and on time. And clear any arrears as soon as possible.

OK fair enough I was on a rant last night and do appreciate the advice although was a bit miffed at your qoute "This is your damned house that you are playing silly games with. Stop treating it like paying the paper bill late. "

I am however only £91.00 in arrears which I have been paying back at an extra £34 per months for 4 months on top of my contractual arrangement of £223 - so my 2 day late payment of £257.00 would make my arrears at £57 - I also offered to clear the £91 arrears completely by paying £314 - which would make me up to date - that wasnt considered - I just feel they were being awkward thats all....

  • Hmm, it's an interesting one because you have only fallen into arrears due to circumstance. However, at the end of the day an agreement was made, and in their mind, a payment will need to be made. They look at you like another number; they're not going to listen to the reasoning.

As we've seen time and time again on this site, these things can snowball very quickly. I would suggest do whatever you can to make that payment and clear those arrears.
New Years resolutions...don't get my signature removed and set up an A-Team style MSE crack survival team. P.S Apparently mrb1 and David 32 hate me. This makes me sad :(

Hiya, I was thinking if you could find the cash before the due date for the payment and make a one-off payment via the Post Office, or a credit card, or similar - just so they can't say that another payment went overdue.
