Disciplinary Investigation - I want to scream!

  • I have a feeling that the GMB make a special exception for my company. The woman on the phone (who told me about the grievance) was very passionate about several of our company policies and went off on a tangent at one point about the sheer volume of help they get asked to give every January when the bonus reviews are coming up.
  • The D&G book states that in incidences of gross misconducts it is often necessary to suspend colleagues on full pay while investigations are underway.

The handbook states that colleagues are suspended on full pay if there are allegations of gross misconduct.

So I suppose it depends which book you're reading but I've never known anyone to not be suspended when under investigation (except me).

Don't panic Alias, the fact that they have NOT suspended you while accusing you of GM makes it harder for them to dismiss you for GM in any meeting. If you are such a risk or a problem/so careless/untrustworthy that you should be sacked for it, then why are you being allowed to work while waiting for the hearing - that is a key point.
  • Finally managed to pin down the personnel manager and she said that it's actually nothing to worry about and that they aren't actually investigating me any more but they've not had time to have a meeting and tell me this!

    Photogenic
Sounds like they are backing off because they realise they have made a total hash of it. If I was you I would watch my step seriously as management can hold grudges when they have to let go of stuff like this.
But still good news on the whole.

Sounds shambolic but accept it and move on with your job and life
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Good call, I know epilepsy can be aggravated by stress (I have it) so can understand how this sword of Damocles has affected you.
