spending £150 on equipment

I'm a novice cake decorator and have just come across a job lot of tins, cutters, and other equipment for £150 this is a bargain as the professional tins cost around £10 each alone and theirs 32 included in the sale.

My dilema is... do I keep back my profits from making cakes to pay for the equipment or let it pass me by and pay the £150 off my debt?

I could sell the equipment for allot more on ebay too, so it could be worthwhile.
What do you reckon?

  • If there are 32 tins included in the set and they're £10 each, I make that £320. Could you e-bay enough to make back your original spend and keep the rest as a freebie treat?

    Hi leni

Ooh...if you're going to be doing cakes as a bit of business thing on a regular basis, I'd look at it as an investment or set-up cost and go for it. Particularly if you're getting a bargain to start with and could profit if you sold them on in the event you find you don't need/want them.

I'm voting "Yay, go for it!"

Three years ago we decided to make christmas cakes as a way of earning extra cash. We spent a fortune on cake tins (well over £200) and if the truth be known probably a LOT more. We did recoup the cash and have never regretted it. They are still as good now as when we bought them and they have had a lot of hammer since we got them I'd say BUY BUY BUY. Its the kind of bargain that you dont get every day. Good luck.
