Hi,
I am self employed,
For my first 2 yrs of business I lived at my parents.
I have been renting for the last 8 years.
Since moving out, I have:
Put myself on the electrol roll at my rented place,
Registered for council tax at my rented place,
Changed my mobile phone bill to my rented place
Obviously get household bills (tv licence/water/electric) at my rented place.
Everything else is still sent to my parents house as I go in there every other day.
So, all bank statments, all credit cards, car insurance etc..
Just wondered if this would matter when applying for a mortgage??
I wondered as, although I have never had a problem getting a loan from my bank, I recently applied for a 0% C/card using my rented address and it was turned down.
I then tried again on my parents address and got it fine.
Wondering if it is ok to leave things as-is?
Would a bank accept that I use it as a business address yet live in a rented house elsewhere?

I have a client like this right now. He chose to use his rented address and was accepted. It all depends if the lender picks up whats called a 'linked address' or not.0

Is a linked address likly to be a problem?
i.e. Say I was requesting a mortgage from my bank, would I just say, you have my address as 'A' (my parents) but I have been living at 'B' (my rented place) for the last 6 yrs.
I suppose I am mostly thinking about problems with the credit checks etc. as my 'credit history' will be mostly at 'A' (credit cards/loan repayments/so on) while I am on the electrol role and living at 'B'0
