    1. Have you typed "Debt" into the search box on this site? You might get some ideas.
I have lots of ideas, i need advice on where I am going wrong.

    2. "The Debt-Free Wannabe" forum on this site.
Yes i already said I was a bit confused when i posted this, and we are requesting to have this post moved.

3.Have you you looked into joining a local "Credit Union" to see if they could be of use to you? They tend not to be as well known as they should be.

    (a) Type "Credit Unions" in to the search box on this site.
    (b) Association of British Credit Unions (www.abcul.org)
I have no idea what a credit union is, but I will search. Thanks for the pointer

Obviously you have ruled out sharing housing costs so can't reduce them. How about car costs. How necessary is a car to you? Could you get to work on public transport?

or car share with a friend, work colleague,
  • Do you have anything to sell on Ebay? Do you use Quidco (or any other cashback site) for your car/house insurance? That money you get from either of those are pretty simple to throw at the debt to reduce it down. I agree about your food budget - try to get that down & any extra £ from your old budget of £100 throw it at your debt (highest apr first or currant account). Also the hair do budget can go for now to this debt. Also, do you NEED a land line as well as a mobile? Every pound can help reduce that debt!

I believe your debt is manageable, but you'll have to just up your debt reducing way of thinking...it may be uncomfortable for a little while during this, but try to see it as a personal challenge...sit down & re-do your budget, you'll be amazed at what you can do.

Pop over to the Old style board & join the monthly grocery challenge & get some more tips..also on this thread (debt free) join the "what debt free things have you done today" thread (+ others similar). It truly helps to communicate with like minded people. =)

Yes I do and for everyone else elses too! Mums and sisters. I have nothing to sell on ebay, I dont think. I literally wear my clothes until they fall apart. I dont own any CDs DVDs. My TV is one of them old style big ones, that was given to me. All my furniture is second hand. I own 1 handbag! I dont have a stereo or radio. I was given a ipod for a gift last year. I dont have any perfumes or make up.

My landline is simply for the internet. I never use it to make calls. £18 is the cheapest I can find. (changing would mean re-conencting to BT at a cost of £130 plus switching)

Thank you for your ideas. I need to be stricter with something, I just need advice on what, although I am begining to think the supermarket seems to get most of my money, even though I think Im strict on myself.

OK, sorry to be pedantic, but I've just added up the figures you posted for expenditure, and it totals £976. From a salary of £1350, that leaves funds available for debt repayments of £374.

I know you haven't accounted for bank charges etc, but do they take up £274? If not, perhaps you should start a spending diary to see where the pennies are going?

    Good luck

  • bargainbetty is right - your SOA doesn't add up and the total monthly expenses amount is missing - has an expenditure accidentally been deleted when you transferred it over? Your expenses are £976, your debt repayment is £100, so your amount leftover should be £274 not -£7 as it's showing.

Hi - paying 100 pounds on the credit card a month is good as long as it is not leaving you open to other charges for the overdraft as well. Are you still spending on the credit card?
Don't forget that you should have 2 months of not having to pay the council tax coming up right now which can help make a dent.
It might be worth getting in touch with Natiowide and working out how the new charges work so you can plan to minimise them as mch as possible.
